This morning, I saw 2 cars parked at the side of the road, with 2 gendarmes checking some paperwork. One car was a white Peugeot Partner, nothing unusual. The other car was a white MK2 Focus RS. Guess what car the cops were driving.
The interesting bit is how they got this car.
The former owner of the Focus was caught driving at 50+ km/h above the speed limit, he was driving under the influence of heroin, and without insurance.
That’s pretty heavy, but it was only after they caught him a second time at 50+ over the speed limit, under the influence, and without a license (it was revoked the first time) that they took the car.
Both arrests took place in less than 2 months.
It is now used as a “discreet” undercover car, used to catch people speeding, texting, or doing other illegal activities while driving.
At least it saves taxes I guess.

Now that’s a good police car.

Correction because it’s one of my pet peeves:
“discreet” is the word you’re looking for.

Although discrete is appropriated, since it’s a distinct quantity of car :)
BmanUltima's car still hasn't been fixed yet, he'll get on it tomorrow, honest.

Are they going to use it for entrapment?

I guess it depends on who’s driving I guess. It is generally discouraged since you put people in danger by doing so. But I have been trapped in the past.
I was driving to work, was a bit late, and driving behind a focus wagon that was doing 10 km/h under the speed limit. After about 5 km, there was finally a place where I could pass him (at normal speed).
As I passed, he sped up. I finished passing and he pushed me further. After driving for about 2 km at speeds up to 130 km/h (50 over the limit), they switched the lights on, berated me, called me a maniac, and gave me a ticket for reckless driving (90€).
I know I was an idiot for accelerating, but if they hadn’t pushed me, i would have simply driven along normally. So in my eye, they were just as dangerous as I was.

The regular higwhay pursuit car for the Gendarmerie is the Mégane III RS, that’s not too bad either!
